Default upcoming 4.14 LTS

While we wait (probably a long time) for the Wayland-supporting release, can we look forward to something nice, like DisplayLink not breaking with every 4.14 point release?

I was recently updated to 4.13.3 on Arch (Antergos) and displaylink.service fails (FATAL: Module evdi not found in directory /lib/modules/4.13.3-1-ARC). Had to drop back to the current LTS kernel.

Hi,

Yes, we're working on a refreshed release that will be compatible with newer kernels.

Cheers,
Michal

Default Nice

Good to hear.

Don't suppose we can get a rough ETA on that?

And I suppose it's too much to ask about a time frame for the Wayland-compatible release?

It should be a matter of days, you may have noticed we've already created a pre-release for newer evdi on our GitHub - this is usually part of our qualification and release process.

(note: this includes libevdi which is not API compatible with DisplayLinkManager from 1.3.x release so do not attempt to mix the two)

It's too early to say anything about timeframes for Wayland support. When I have something concrete to share, I will do it on this forum for sure.

Cheers,
Michal
