Help: Lenovo T500 + DisplayLink
Setup:
Lenovo T500 with "middle" (Advanced) docking station. Docking station has both DVI and VGA outputs. I bought the Displaylink adapter because the standard VGA output is fuzzy. Hoping the Displaylink's digital out to my second monitor would be crisper. I am sure the drive is installed correctly; the version appears to be: 5.2.21746.0 The device appears happy in Computer Manager as "USB Display Adapters | DisplayLink Display Adapter (8060)" I am using Windows 7 RTM. Problem: -I cannot get ANY output on my T500 to the display link adapter. -There is no GUI for the Displaylink on my computer to switch -Win P does not show the Displaylink as a source to extend to -At no time does the light on the displaylink ever come on. What I've tried: -Four different USB ports (two on the doc, two on the laptop itself) -Uninstalling and re-installing driver. Using the Windows downloaded driver. Open to others. -Changing from switchable graphics in T500 bios to DISCRETE -Changing from switchable graphics in T500 bios to Integrated (losing DVI on the docking station; which is very important.) -Changing back to switchable graphics -Manually clicking on "DisplayLinkUserAgent" -Manually clicking on "DisplayLinkUI" Now, I'm stumped. No GUI. No light. Nothing. Looking for help. Thanks. |

Hi Jeremy,
Can you please post a copy of the contents you find in C:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\Debug\. This will tell us at which point the display is going wrong (hopefully). Please ensure that the ATI or INTEL graphics driver is installed when you are in Discrete or Integrated mode. You can check this by going to Device Manager, expanding the "Display adapters" tree and ensuring that the devices listed there say something containing ATI or INTEL, rather than standard vga adapter. Regards, Martin |

Log files attached
Logs attached. Thanks !
PS: Absoultely.. the ATI or INTEL driver appears in the display adapters tree. PPS: Right now, to utilize dual montior support again, I'm back to MIXED graphics mode, so I can use the VGA and DVI adapters on the dockstation. Not sure if the log files will show you that or not. |

The device doesn't look like it is working properly. Have you tried changing the usb cable/using it in a different machine?

Got it working.. DVI side not jammed in enough
The DisplayLink adapter needed to have the DVI side jammed in a little harder. When I did a 3rd device driver popped up, and light came on, and ... magical.. it worked.
So, it looks like you're in the clear. Even seems to be working in switched graphic mode for my T500. Thanks ! |
