Laptop Video blank with physical Dual Monitors

At home I'd like to use DisplayLink and my iPad to have dual monitors. However at work I have a second monitor physically wired to my laptop docking station. After my computer turns off the monitors to conserve power, when I come back and move my mouse I get nothing. At that point if I close the lid of my laptop the external monitor displays my screen, then I can re-open my lid to get both monitors back. Uninstalling the iPad Displaylink software from my Windows 7 system removes these problems.

I have a Dell Latitude E6510, with an NVIDIA NVS 3100M video card Running Windows 7 Enterprise x64.

Thoughts?
