Default Ubuntu Install Trouble

Hi,

I am having trouble getting my display link adapter up and running. The install appears to go smoothly but with no end result. I am able to view the display link when viewing connected usb devices. When I run the install I get the following:

tolandjl@Jack-Lenovo-Old:~/Downloads$ sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.3.52.run
[sudo] password for tolandjl:
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 1.3.52 100%
DisplayLink Linux Software 1.3.52 install script called: install
Distribution discovered: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Installing
Configuring EVDI DKMS module
Registering EVDI kernel module with DKMS
Building EVDI kernel module with DKMS
Installing EVDI kernel module to kernel tree
EVDI kernel module built successfully
Installing x64-ubuntu-1604/DisplayLinkManager
Installing libraries
Installing firmware packages
Installing license file
Adding udev rule for DisplayLink DL-3xxx/5xxx devices
tolandjl@Jack-Lenovo-Old:~/Downloads$

I've noticed I am missing the last two lines in the "How to install..." page.

Starting DLM upstart job
displaylink start/running, process 3397

Any help appreciated. Relatively new with ubuntu.

Hey, I seem to have the same issue, here is my install log:
Code:
korri@korri-Inspiron-13-5368:~/Downloads$ sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.3.52.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

Installing firmware packages

Adding udev rule for DisplayLink DL-3xxx/5xxx devices
korri@korri-Inspiron-13-5368:~/Downloads$
The device shows up in usb list:
Code:
korri@korri-Inspiron-13-5368:~/Downloads$ lsusb -d 17e9:
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 17e9:4301 DisplayLink
korri@korri-Inspiron-13-5368:~/Downloads$
But the screen does not show up in display settings.

Not seeing the last two lines is normal in the recent versions of the driver and a recent distro - because they no longer use upstart but systemd for starting DisplayLinkManager.

Please attach logs - it would show if evdi kernel module is initialised, and if DisplayLinkManager can connect to it.

Thanks,
Michal

Default Display does not work

Hey,
I am having same problem. I am fairly new to linux, so I am not sure if I am doing everything correctly. Attached are my system logs - I am not sure how to check in logs, if the evdm was initialized properly.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Chirag.
