Default X crashes when monitor attached - Ubuntu 16.04

I am currently trying 1.2.65 (I have tried the others as well.)

As soon as a monitor of any kind (DVI or HDMI) is plugged in and turned on, the screen goes black and I'm forced to power down.

The device works great on a separate Ubuntu 16.04 setup. I have tried various cables, configurations, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I wanted to add that it works fine while booting into Windows 10 on the same machine.
