Default Trouble with windows 8.1

I have just bought a Cable Matters USB 3.0 to HDMI converter, and I'm using Windows 8.1 on a Acer ZC-602.

The driver of the adapter causes my PC to reboot, but once I reboot, the PC is booting into recovery mode.

I tried 7.5 M0, 7.4 M4 and 7.4 M2, but the effect is the same for all driver versions.

Has anybody else similar problems? I really get desparate

Hi,

Can you you try the latest Windows 8.1 graphics drivers for your PC?

According to the Acer support site, these are the latest:

Thanks,
James

Default One problem fixed, but another one appeared...

Hi, thanks for the quick answer. I have installed the proposed graphics driver, but the problem was still there. I just found out that this might probably be caused by Windows 8.1 itself - the "clever" thing installed its own driver automatically after plugging in the device.

Now I stopped Windows from doing this, and the recovery mode is not necessary any more. I installed the driver manually from the list that was on the computer, according to the information that was shown in the hardware ID list.

However, the device is still not detected by the computer - see attached file.

one addition to the driver choice, I was not able to install the drivers from here:

C:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\
Check Include subfolders

as the system did not find the right drivers there

Hi,

This adapter does not use DisplayLink technology.

I'd contact Cable Matters for support in this matter.

Thanks,
James
