Default Linux Driver not working 14.04 Lenovo Laptop X1 Carbon

HI,

I've installed the driver but keep getting the following in dmesg. I've tried enabling/disabling the built in screen on the laptop but that didn't work. There are no errors in either:

/var/log/displaylink/*
/var/crash/*displaylink*

Here is my dmesg:

* What Linux distribution are you using?
* What driver version are you using?

I just setup a display link docking station with an X1 Carbon gen3 on Ubuntu 14.04 with the 138 beta release and it kind of worked out-of-the-box. When i say kind of i am referring to known current issues:

1) The display link manger process drains ~ 50% of your CPU power (continuously!).
2) The link crashes occasionally and a reboot of the docking station is required (for me ~ once per hour).
3) The mouse flickers on the laptop screen if you use Unity (this problem is not present in Gnome 3 and Metacity).
4) If your turn of the Built-in Display (laptop display) weird things happen (in my case one of my external monitors is filled with artifacts).

I'm on the latest 64 bit Unbuntu distribution 14.04.
I am using the 1.0.138 version of the displaylink driver.
My displaylink device is a lenovo thinkpad usb 3.0 dock.

When I run the extracted driver I see:

xxxxx@laptop:~/Downloads$ sudo ./displaylink-driver-1.0.138.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing DisplayLink Linux Driver 1.0.138 100%
DisplayLink Linux Software 1.0.138 install script called: install

Adding udev rule for DisplayLink DL-3xxx/5xxx devices

But in dmesg I see the stuff I pasted in my first post:

Could this be due to the new hardware stack? I'm on 14.04.3

I installed 14.04.2 and everything worked ok. I think the issue is that 14.04.3 and the driver are not compatible.

Default Ubuntu 14.04.5

I had to turn off secure boot feature in BIOS in order to get display port to work with Ubuntu.
