We haven't yet recreated the problem here, but hope to soon -- and then we'll validate and try to document this workaround for less advanced users.

This is a very frustrating problem with broad impact for Windows 8. Intel and Microsoft communities have long threads about all the USB 3.0 + Windows 8 problems.

Unfortunately, it impacts DisplayLink devices more heavily -- they won't appear on the USB bus at all (or at best come and go). In short, USB 3.0 docks appear to not work at all, until they're moved over to USB 2.0.

We're not certain, but it appears that all of the latest Intel Ivy Bridge systems + Windows 8 users are affected -- a huge set.

If anyone else has some other / better workarounds, we'd love to hear of them. Thanks!
