Default Mac Air Users -- Please Confirm Driver 1.56 Works

I am new to Mac OS and just purchased a refurbished Mac Air, Ver 1 with MiniDVi Port.

I have installed 1.56b driver for use with the USB 2.0 to HDMI w/Audio Converter.

I want to play movies (both audio and video) from my Mac Air on a Monitor with HDMI input.

I would appreciate any feedback from Mac Air users that this task works, simply by plugging the Adapter into my single USB port and a HDMI cable from the Adapter to the HDMI input port on the 26in Monitor using a Male HDMI to Male HDMI cable.

When using same Adapter with my Toshiba Laptop, after installing the drivers, an Icon is visible in the Taskbar which allows me to control the video on either the laptop or the HDMI HD Monitor with Speakers. However, I was unable to hear the audio on the Monitor.

Using the Apple Mac Air, I do not appear to have access to the same Video Monitor Selection Icon. Activity Monitor shows DisplayLinkUserAgent is installed. The HD Monitor only shows the Background Screen of my Mac Air; no other icons from my Mac Air are present as on my Toshiba Laptop.

Bottom Line: I have been unable to successfully use this USB to HDMI Adapter for my Mac Air or my Windows Vista Toshiba, although the latter permitted me to see the Video output of my laptop and project it onto my HD Monitor.

Any assistance and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This obviously is not a simple Plug and Play device.
