MBP i7 17" sleep issue

1 Attachment(s)
The displaylink drivers (both 32-bit 1.5 and 64-bit 1.6b2) fail to wake up after snow leopard is in sleep mode.

Is there any work around or new drivers being developed?

The behavior happens with a 2010 macbook pro in either clamshell or opened.

Issue occurs using a Sewell MiniDeck http://sewelldirect.com/Sewell-Minid...ay-Adapter.asp or EVGA UV16 http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...-A1&family=USB

Log file attached.

Thank you for the logs.
Unfortunately there is no information about what is preventing the system from resuming from sleep: the system just never wakes up.
We have a known issue where on some systems our driver can cause the a similar issue. Can you please confirm that uninstalling the DisplayLink drivers the issue is resolved?

On your system I also see four kernel panics in the power saving area. One definitely caused by Parallels, the others less clear.
It might be worth trying to change the hibernate/sleep settings to see if that helps. I'd try to play with an utility like SmartSleep to avoid hibernating.

Carlo,

I uninstalled the DisplayLink drivers and there was no issue resuming from sleep.

I am now trying the SmartSleep to avoid hibernating.

kurtnagel posted the parallels issue in the following thread:

http://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=316

I had to stop using parallels with displaylink and move to fusion.

With Fusion 3.1 (and previous versions) the display on the displaylink monitor is slow and choppy and I received the following from vmware:
"Thank you for your Support Request.

Currently we do not support the use of USB display adapters in Fusion and results will vary depending on the adapter. It is something we are looking into for a future release.

The only suggestion I could give to you would be to try disabling 3D acceleration (Virtual Machine > Settings > Display > Uncheck Accelerate 3D graphics)"
Are there any new displaylink drivers to be released soon?

Thanks,
Steve

SmartSleep fixed the sleep wake issue first described.

The parallels issue remains and I have a support ticket in and will post any updates.

Disabling the graphics auto-switching and using a mini display port adapter, as posted in other threads, seems to solve the attaching and removing external displays.

Any update to the display link drivers to address the disconnecting of the external displays would be greatly appreciated.

Carlo, thanks again for the SmartSleep recommendation.

Just had a bad system hang that required a hard power off - all screens frozen and reconnecting external display brought up snow on display port connected monitor.

Log information attached.

Any expected b3 release date?

Thanks,
Steve
