Hey guys,

iMac 27" mid 2011 running latest Mavericks OSX 10.9.1

Uninstalled & re-installed DisplayLink drivers 2.1 twice now.

Restarted a bunch of times.

And I have no LED light on, no display at all. Nothing is detected under System Profiler > USB regarding DisplayLink.

Under Activity Monitor I have
- DisplayLinkManager
- DisplayLinkUserAgent

Both running.

And still no LED light, no display, absolutely nothing.

Had this problem on Monday, then rest of the week was fine? Now today its not working again.

Almost like my USB port is dead, however I've tried all four USB ports and same result on all. I've tried an external HDD which uses the same USB mini connection as the DisplayLink adapter itself, to rule out the cable, external HDD works fine.

Any help at all? Thanks.

I had HIS Multiview II Adapter that had worked fine for a while and then one day it did the same thing you mention where the display was black, no signal, and the display would eventually poweroff.

I posted to this forum but didn't get any help so I then sent the adapter back claiming it to be defective they sent me a new one and everything is working once again!

It maybe you have defective device.

dead. Return it and hopefully you're not as lucky as me and have to wait a month to get it back.

Daze it looks to be a hardware issue with the device. Can you please let me know who is the manufacturer so I can warn them of the issue?

Cheers,
Carlo

That's a bummer. I bought from Amazon UK.

There is no other markings on the adapter itself, it just says "USB 2.0 Display Adapter" and the same on the reverse. No manufacturer as such it seems.

This is the page I bought it from

Strangely started to work again this afternoon. What the hell is going on with this thing!?

A "USB Graphic Adapter" has shown up in my System Profiler with the following information

Product ID: 0x03c1
Vendor ID: 0x17e9 (DisplayLink (UK) Ltd.)
Version: 1.12
Serial Number: 1312160114
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: DisplayLink
Location ID: 0xfa120000 / 6
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500

Shed any light on the situation?

I've since got a replacement unit sent out to me by the Amazon seller, which was easily done.

Plugged it in, turned on, all good. I notice a couple of minor differences with the previous device itself (green LED instead of a blue LED like the previous version?, etc)

Less than 24 hours on, and its done the same thing again - its doing nothing.

LED isn't turning on, nothing in System Profiler. Absolutely nothing.

Am I doing something wrong here? Or are all these adapters junk?!

I've used it for a total of about 1.5 hours, if that.

Feel like giving up completely and selling the additional monitor I bought for this exact purpose. And if I have to return again, that's yet another ££ to the Post Office for the returned item.

Any advice? Help? Please?

* Small update.

Uninsallted version 2.1, installed Beta 2.2 = no luck
Uninstalled Beta 2.2, restarted with nothing installed = no luck
Installed 2.1 again = no luck.

The only thing I am noticing it doing (unlike the old adapter I had) is that the green LED light flashes for a split second just as I plug the USB lead in.

Then it goes off and continues to do nothing.

Please help.

I couldn't figure out if you were using VGA or DVI, but Amazon UK sells devices by StarTech for both - Not saying they are flawless, but I have a bunch at home (mostly USB2.0/DVI) and a few at the office (USB3.0/DisplayPort or DVI) that have worked without any problems.

You're connecting directly to the Mac, and not going via a USB hub right? Do you have, or can get your hands on, another system to try the adapter with?

I'm using DVI, with a DVI lead straight out of the adapter into my monitor.

Nope - not going through USB hub. I have tried it through a powered USB hub, but to no avail.

I've tried different USB leads,
Different USB ports,
Tried with every other USB device unplugged

Nothing works!

Got another RMA number, so returning & getting full refund from seller.
